Tara Pinske, OD
Optometrist
Dr. Pinske was born and raised in Minnesota and graduated with honors from Pacific University. She is now an adjunct professor of the College of Optometry. She began practice in San Diego, CA and returned to Portland to practice primary care optometry with emphasis on surgical comanagement of LASIK and cataract surgery. This area of practice has allowed her to specialize in the treatment of dry eye/ocular surface disease while continuing to provide comprehensive eye care.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association, is past president of the Portland Metropolitan Optometric Society, and has served on the board of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association.
While Dr. Pinske continues to work in a surgical setting, she truly enjoys caring for patients in the Camas/Vancouver area where she is able to focus on primary eye care, overall wellness, and ensuring a positive experience with our office.
Dr. Hackett, OD
Optometrist
Dr. Hackett’s passion for optometry started in elementary school. She struggled in class, consistently lose her place while reading, using her finger to follow along, and mixing up her letters such as B’s and D’s. Her amazing mom immediately scheduled her with an optometrist who started her in a vision therapy program. After this experience, she experienced firsthand the rewards of proper diagnosis and therapies and what an impact can be made on the lives of young people. She became a better reader and was able to keep up with school tasks with less effort. She went to get her doctorate and now, she is able to pay it forward by helping kids who struggle to keep up in school, excel at sports, keep attention in the classroom with ADHD diagnosis, etc. She is able to look into the whole mind and body and help kids who otherwise get lost in the system without the key components they need for success.
Dr. Hackett is obviously great with our pediatric patients but is also skilled in the treatment of adults and kids of all ages, whether it be giving the best vision, diabetic exams, dry eye, the treatment of glaucoma…she does it all with energy, patient education, and a smile.
In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors- hiking, camping, going to the lake, and playing various sports. Heads up, athletes: she is very active and has played sports her whole life. Our athletic Dr. Hackett is very competitive! (Dr. Pinske’s son’s one v. one stories coming soon…)
Dr. Christy Alfano, OD
Optometrist
Dr. Alfano was born and raised in Orlando, FL and attended the University of Central Florida for her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences. She then moved to Memphis, TN to earn her doctorate at Southern College of Optometry where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, she moved to Portland, OR for her residency in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy through Pacific University. She moved to Camas in 2022 and joined our practice in early 2023.
Dr. Alfano is passionate about helping children and families see their best and build functional visual skills. Dr. Alfano offers vision therapy at our office to help children and adults who may struggle with keeping their place when reading, eye tracking difficulties, trouble with depth perception, strabismus, or post-concussion visual issues. She also offers myopia management options, including specialty MiSight contact lenses or orthokeratology lenses, to reduce progression of a child’s prescription every year. Dr. Alfano provides care for all ages including routine eye care, dry eye treatments, diabetic eye exams, and much more!
Dr. Alfano is active in the optometry community and is a member of the American Optometry Association, current President of the Southwest Society of Optometric Physicians of Washington, and a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking around the Pacific Northwest, traveling, and spending time with her dog, Winnie.
Our Staff
Jamie
Optometric Tech/Reception
Jamie, hailing from Kauai, lends the Aloha Spirit to our office. She can verify your benefits, help you with contact lenses, and make pretesting seem like a tropical vacation. She makes the office fun, and gets it done!
Away from the office, Jamie enjoys watching hockey (go Sharks!), and enjoying the outdoors with her family including two adorable boys and two big scary Tegus lizards.
Alicia
tech/reception/helper outer in all things optometric
Alicia was here for us for the opening our new location and if we have it our way, you will see her around here a lot more often in days to come! She can help you with scheduling, pretest measurements, give you advice on your best eyecare and eyewear options. She really does it all (tirelessly)and always with a smile!
Madison
optometric tech/reception, contact lens specialist
Madison is the burst of energy that keeps Camas Optique fueled. She is the friendly voice that you may hear when you call to schedule your appointment and will also perform pre-testing for you on the day of your visit. She is thorough, friendly, and makes pre-testing fun! If you are nervous about learning contact lens insertion, she is the trainer for you. Her positive energy is contagious, but nothing else will be because she is also in charge of office disinfection. We look forward to seeing her in our office daily and we think you will too!
In her spare time, Madison likes to spend time with family, spend time at the lakes, and she really enjoys a good slice of cake! (cake, cookies…no side effects. Yep, it’s OK to be a little mad at her for this, but she works hard!)
